Biswa Bhusan, Manmohan agreed to judicial probe

By Alex Stewart(Orissa)
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik - as usual – has ordered a judicial probe into the sensational murder of Hindu seer Swami Laxmananda Saraswati. However, many BJP leaders, especially those who ‘with less self interest’ believe in Hindu ideology, - find it hard to digest the judicial probe decision.
They maintain that the chief minister should have ordered for a CBI probe into the case since the seer was considered the father figure of Hindu Hindu community in eastern India, besides playing an instrumental role in bringing a turnaround in the BJP’s fate in Orissa.
However, sources in the party said that two senior BJP leaders – industry minister Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and revenue minister Manmohan Samal – were consulted by chief minister before he formally ordered the probe.
Both of them – as obliged junior colleagues of Naveen - consented to what he had already decided.
However, when leaders of the Sangh Parivar organisations objected to the judicial probe order, Mr Harichandan and Mr Samal found themselves in a wrong side.
As an after thought, they went to the chief minister and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits, ostensibly to send a message that they were – despite passionately clinging to power and position these years – still remember the seer and his contribution.
