A terrible joke!

When the ruler keeps mum over his courtier’s plight…
BY A.K. SAHOO
Bhubaneswar, June 30: The name of this land you live in is Orissa – and the ruler is illustrious Biju Patnaik’s son Naveen Patnaik. Many wonder if this man really rules the state. Their doubt, as it appears, is not sometimes unfounded.
An elected legislator of Orissa Legislative Assembly – Mr Ramesh Rout of Athagarh – has gone missing for nearly two weeks now. A lot many things are in circulation surrounding his mysterious disappearance.
There are media reports - quoting Mr Rout’s wife – that the legislator has been kidnapped by some influential people. His wife has even told the media that her husband was under terrible mental shock and fear and there was threat to his life.
Mr Rout did not attend the preliminary days of the ongoing Assembly. Now his disappearance has given further credence to some foul play in the entire episode.
Ironically, the ruler has kept mum and is yet to act.
Mr Rout is not an ordinary citizen. He is very much part of Naveen’s court. When the ruler is silent on the disappearance of his court member, what more the common citizens can expect from him?
Further delay could aggravate the situation. God forbid! - We might be handed out a tragic tale if more time is allowed to the “buyers of democracy” to perpetuate their design and escape unblemished.
You, I and Naveen may say, “The law will take its own course.” But the Almighty above will record: “We actually gave a dictated course to the law.”
